Construction of multi-faith sacred space.
Construction Project Team:
Quantity Surveyor: NHS
Facts and Figures:
The Employer: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Contract Dates: October 2008 - December 2008
The contract was awarded by Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn and the NHS
Trust and involved the construction of a timber frame, timber clad building located in
one of the central courtyards.
The difficulties identified were working in a live establishment, the access
arrangements and distribution of materials. These all needed daily management in
the busy hospital environment.
We were not allowed to use a crane to lift materials
in over the accommodation; as a consequence we attended site early before the
start of the hospital working day.
The soft timber construction was sympathetic to the surrounding building and the
proposed function of the new building.
Completed for the Christmas services in 2008 following a very demanding ten week
The project was successfully completed on time and within budget.
